The University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point (UWSP) invites applications for a full-time, 12-month academic staff appointment in the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) Program within the School of Health Sciences and Wellness, College of Professional Studies. The DPT Program is an accredited, innovative professional education program grounded in community engagement, rural health, and competency-based education.
The DPT program fosters a collaborative, student-centered learning environment that prepares physical therapists to expand access to care and promote health across diverse and rural communities. The new faculty member will contribute to this mission through excellence in teaching and assessment, adaptability in instructional methods, and participation in the program’s evolving competency-based curriculum.
Responsibilities: Teach within the entry-level DPT curriculum in areas aligned with academic preparation and clinical expertise. Contribute to the design, delivery, and assessment of competency-based learning experiences. Provide clinical instruction and mentorship to students within the DPT program’s pro bono physical therapy practice. Engage in scholarly activities that advance teaching innovation or community engagement. Participate in program, school, and university service, including committee work, program assessment, and accreditation activities. Foster a collegial culture that values inclusivity, collaboration, and student success.
Qualifications: Licensed physical therapist (or license-eligible) in Wisconsin; licensure required within six months of hire. Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree from a CAPTE-accredited program and a minimum of five years of clinical experience. Demonstrated excellence in teaching and openness to developing competency-based teaching and assessment strategies. Ability and willingness to supervise students in the pro bono clinic and integrate service learning into instruction. Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills within an interdisciplinary academic environment. Commitment to ongoing professional development through continuing education, specialization, or advanced study.
Preferred qualifications include experience with learner-centered or integrated curriculum design, evidence of scholarly or professional engagement, and interest in rural health or community-based practice.
